Important Update For Volunteers
Dear Volunteer,
On behalf of the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA), I am grateful for your interest in volunteering with our Holiday Meals on Wheels program this Christmas. Given our commitment to keep the community safe during this pandemic, we will not engage volunteers in the delivery of meals this year. Your friendly smiles will be missed by those receiving meals, and I hope we can return to our holiday tradition next year.
We believe the rise in COVID-19 cases and new mandates and guidelines from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services require this action. Consequently, we have enlisted our meal and transportation providers to prepare, pack, and deliver home delivered meals during the week of Christmas. We are able to accomplish this with a generous donation from the DTE Foundation.
Your dedicated service during the holidays means a lot to DAAA and the older adults we serve, and we look forward to sharing future volunteer opportunities with you.
Be well, stay safe, and have a Happy Holidays!
