Nutrition is key for older adults to maintain their health and daily wellness, we provide meal services to eligible adults in Detroit, the five Grosse Pointes, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park.

Services we provide:

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels is a state and federally funded program that offers nutritious meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities

Holiday Meals on Wheels

Holiday Meals on Wheels (HMOW) is supported through corporate, private, and community funds making it possible to feed thousands of homebound seniors and adults with disabilities on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Labor Day.

Volunteer opportunities are available.

Congregate Meals

The Congregate Meal program provides nutritious meals to people 60 years of age and older and their spouses five days a week, Monday through Friday at various locations in the community.

Increasing access to healthy food to reduce food insecurity of older adults in Southeast Michigan through coordinated service delivery and during emergencies.

 

 

 

Oral Nutrition Supplement Request

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has now identified Liquid Nutrition as Oral Nutrition Supplements (ONS).

MDHHS has provided new funding guidelines that only allow individuals who are unable to meet their nutritional requirements through oral diet alone and/ or based on their medical diagnosis.

As of January 2, 2024, for your participant to be eligible to receive Oral Nutrition Supplement (ONS) Assistance, the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) requires an ONS form be completed by their physician with an acceptable diagnosis.  In addition, an in-person assessment must be completed by our ONS Program Coordinator. A Physician’s prescription is no longer accepted.
