Meals on Wheels is a state and federally funded program that provides nutrition-based meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living in Detroit, the five Grosse Pointes, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park.

Participants may choose to receive:

Holiday Meals on Wheels

Holiday Meals on Wheels (HMOW) is supported through corporate, private, and community funds, making it possible to feed thousands of homebound seniors and adults with disabilities on Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Labor Day.

The Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) values our partnerships with corporate and individual donors supporting the Holiday Meals on Wheels Program. Private contributions have been a lifeline.

Fundraising for HMOW began with grassroots efforts initiated by the DAAA staff in 1988. We have a battle to win against social determinants of health, and for many seniors, meals are the first line of defense.

This Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Detroit Area Agency on Aging (DAAA) welcomes seniors interested in receiving a hot holiday meal to call us at 313-446-4444.

The HMOW program also depends on volunteers to deliver a hot nutritious meal on the holidays. Volunteer opportunities are available.
