Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Committee -

Our Mission: Supporting caregivers to understand their parenting role and youth trends, to equip caregivers with tools to help raise grandchildren and kinship relatives so they can better navigate their adjusted lifestyle.

The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Committee (GRGC) is a collaboration of agencies working together to support a network of organizations, share resources, advocate for kinship/grandparents rights, communicate and plan events that will help grandparents and kinship caregivers.

Created in 2001, the GRGC network with local agencies to discuss important issues affecting kinship caregivers and grandparents raising their grandchildren in the metropolitan Detroit area. They meet on the 1st Wednesday of each month at the offices of Franklin Wright Settlements, Inc. (FWS). This committee is chaired by Juanita Bridgewater.

Under the sponsorship of DAAA, the committee collaborates to provide a series of annual educational, social and respite events throughout the year.
